Fun with the Lensbaby Velvet 56 and Star Magnolias

Now, everyone who knows me knows that I'm a soft-focus fan! That isn't to say that I don't love structure or detail in imagery;  just not in every single image. Rules are made to be broken.  And as rules relate to imagery, I like to photograph florals as my mind's eye sees them - soft and ethereal.

What better way to photograph Spring blossoms than with a new Lensbaby Velvet 56? This lens is the newest release from Lensbaby.  Needless to say, I'm thrilled!  I will admit, this lens is different from any other Lensbaby product.  It does take some to get used to.  However what this lens renders is truly velvety background blur when used wide open - hence the name.  Here is a star magnolia and a dahlia shot while using the Lensbaby Velvet 56.

Enjoy, and happy Shooting!!
